This is one that will make a lot of people sad. The Station — the small but well-stocked deli, locavore grocery and cafe between Stifft Station and Hillcrest — sent an e-mail to customers overnight announcing that it will close its doors this weekend.
This is a heart-breaker for anyone who enjoyed buying their local produce or snacking on their hefty gourmet sandwiches. The shop also had a well-edited section of magazines, a big spread of enviro-baby products like G diapers and has been a favorite of freelancers taking advantage of their free wi-fi.
If you’re among its small but loyal throng of fans, you can shop at The Station through Saturday. That’s when the store’s owners will host a “Last Stop at The Station” celebration. They’ll have local musicians, a small craft market, gift baskets for sale and a special holiday menu. You’ll also be able to pick up merchandise marked down by 10 to 40 percent.
Sounds like a good way to fete a short-lived but very much embraced local shop.

I hated to see holly and them close up shop! it seemed like such a great store for this area, and their breakfast sammies were DELISH. do we know why they closed? my guess….the groceries did them in.
